Brisbane’s sunny weather is perfect for swimming. Getting out into the water may help children with asthma to breathe better, be active and learn to be safe around water.
Swimming helped my daughter as it didn’t trigger her asthma like other activities such as running would. It gave my daughter the chance to play with other children and be involved.
Deep breaths taken to pick up objects from the bottom of the pool, or whilst practicing strokes seemed to be taken with only the thoughts of achieving the goal – collecting the object or reaching the wall. Swimming allowed childhood fun to return.
