… The condition can be controlled, says Professor Amanda Barnard, chair of the National Asthma Council Australia committee that drew up the guidelines.
There are a number of medications people can take to ensure a life without symptoms and flare-ups, she says.
A healthy lifestyle with moderately intense physical activity, including team sport, improves quality of life in people with asthma.
“These guidelines will help people live the best life they can.”
New medications have been approved and the evidence base has changed substantially since 2006 when the last guidelines were released, says Prof Barnard.
