Asthma plans for school are the same asthma plans for use at home. Written in consultation with your doctor, the personal plan is created for your child to help at home for day to day care, as well as for school staff. It helps everyone understand what to do in an asthmatic event and with day to day care.
If a new asthma plan is requested at the start of each school year, use the opportunity to review how things are going for your child. The asthma management plan is designed to give you the following strategies:
- first aid asthma instructions for school carers
- what to do if asthma is getting worse
- what to do when asthma is well management
Before you give the asthma plan to school, make a copy for yourself. Keep a copy with your child’s asthma supplies at home. The asthma plan can help you work with your doctor to reduce the number of school days away if you use it as a daily document. Regularly communicate with school regarding how things are at home with asthma and also to find out how things are going at school. So everyone is aware of what is happening for your child.
The Bello Alito My Asthma Bag has been designed to keep the A4 asthma plans with medication, easy to see before medication can be reached. My Asthma Bag helps support the use of asthma plans. My Asthma Action Plan template is free to download.
